Our Signature Scarves are key Tapis Noir house symbols and the very first pieces we designed. The print for this particular scarf was created by us, but was inspired by several antique fabrics - some of which are part of our archive. The colours were inspired by the ones used in the late 18th century for dresses. In 18th century France it was very popular to create uneven stripes around flowers. We decided to create our own print from these two sources of inspiration, but do it in a very modern way.
One side is made from a thick and exceptionally soft silk twill printed with a subtle stripe pattern in delicate colours. The other side is made from a very soft silk and twill mix in a solid, dusty pink herringbone weave. It’s large enough to use as a shawl but not too big to use as a regular scarf.
